Made these. It took literally from the beginning of time until now. But it was worth it.

The amount of labor and time I have paid into these shelves ensures that I can never get rid of them ever. Good thing I like them a lot.

Oh and by the way.

They look pretty cool, but why the holes...?
Also, did you buy the shelves and then hole them yourself, or was this a nifty purchase?

Why holes? Holes are ace! I did it that way mostly for designerly reasons, but also because shelves that high up would be very oppressive in the space - so doing this was a way to introduce some light and air to the look.

The shelves started out their life as brown particle board - I did the drilling of the holes, the painting, the sanding, the more sanding, the cursing out, the glazing, and the even more sanding. It took forever, but was worth it. Kind of. Ask me in a week or so.

Awesome!!! Knowing that you put that much work into them makes them cooler... knowing that you curse out home projects makes you cooler. LOL
I'm currently needing shelves for my kitchen, and those look really neat.
You should update us in a bit, I'm wondering if random things will roll through the holes (in unforseen ways/things)

Thanks for sharing!!!

Omigod, when did you get so handy, Nange? Was it when you learned the frightening joys of the hole-cutting drill bit? You must have been LITERALLY ON FIRE when you were using that drill!
