Cutting up my posterboard...

So, I had a bad day, and despite the fact I had so much more to do, I decided just to do a couple quick projects.
My last post here asked people what they do when they don't have a bunch of crafting stuff, but they do have a lot of...stuff. So, here's a birthday card, made completely of whatever I found around me.
( Birthday card! )
I also made a journal. I disassembled three of my notebooks from school. I'm working on combining my notes from all my classes into larger books like "European History", "Other History Classes The Stupid Department Made Me Take", "Math and Science" and "Other Humanities". I'm a bit of a pack-rat, and I just want to save the information I have right now, but I hate the way a whole bunch of notebooks look on a shelf. This is just the blank pages from the ends of the notebooks - I'm trying to put my notes together better before binding them.

Fraggle does have tooth spurs :(
She had an anaesthetic and tooth-burring on Saturday.
The vet has suggested a hay diet (no pellets). I have cut right back but she doesn't seem to be eating much at all and she's still pooping smaller poops than normal. She used to be such a greedy-guts, eating everything I put in her cage straight away. She's not even eating much of her greens.
I have ordered some Oxbow hay online as there are no stockists near to me, so it should be delivered sometime this week.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I can't possibly afford to take two buns to the vet every month to have a dental as it costs approx £80 each time.I'm currently reading: anxious

my rabbit has had problems with her molars and has them pulled out twice. it made her eye water and the vet told me that it was cause she had a blocked tear duct and it would probably always be that way. well now the duct is pretty swollen, it looks like an absess. the soonest i can bring her in is thursday. i just wanted to know what the vet can do to fix this. the bun is burning a hole in my wallet :( |

If anyone can give me info about leather etching? I'm interested in making some leather ID bracelets, since it's the only thing I can really wear besides gold!! :]
Also, places to get beautiful feathers that aren't TOO expensive? I've checked some local craft stores; all I can find is the same feathers I have or tackily dyed guinea feathers or cheap throw away feathers.
Thanks ladies:] |

Reason #536 I listen to NPR: I find out bits of trivia I might never otherwise pick up. And in the age of the Internet, that's a big deal.
Today's nugget of glorious WTF? Bram Stoker modeled Count Dracula on Walt Whitman.
Yes, really.
Thank you, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, for totally blowing my mind! |

I am planning in the next couple of months to steam clean my living room carpet and get out any residue of bunny accidents and to avoid them in the future. I know that bunnies have a tendency to urinate where they have in the past and would like to avoid that completely once I spend the money and steam clean everything! I'd love to have suggestions for the very best in odor removal you have to offer! Also, should I be concerned about steam cleaning the carpet? Do they use any sort of chemicals? As far as I can tell it's just plain old water, but I could be wrong and would rather not go through the trouble of sick bunnies if I don't have to.

My baby passed away today. We did everything we could, it was just too late. I'm going to miss her so much. Thank you for your support, and prayers and thoughts.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

the box was created from scratch (wood cut, assembled, covered, etc!) by myself, with the exception of the third eye. The great hall chamber is from Danielewski's House of Leaves.. the other three peepholes, you have to look into to find out what you see. I included the perspective hallway, lit with a miniature LED light that can be turned on/off by a secret compartment in the great hall. The second is my first attempt with polymer clay!! He looks very shocked and angry. I like him :) Enjoy! |

Today is Banon's third birthday!! I can't believe how old he's getting. He's currently playing with my walking boot (I sprained my ankle really bad) and chining everything. I think he knows it's his birthday though, he looks pretty happy right now.

The past few days have been awful with the bunnies. They are now permanently seperated. When I tried putting the two back together, McGee completely went out of control, crying and jumping violently into all corners of the cage in hopes of escape. I took her to my house last night (they've been staying at the boyfriend's house with the chinchillas, since we're here most often) in fear of her hurting herself or Sasha attacking her again. I was able to clean all the wounds on her back, and they're already starting to look a lot better. She was able to have almost free range of my entire house and she generally seems a lot calmer.
Sasha is worse, though. When I tried to hold her today she bit me twice, hard enough the bite marks turned to bruises. During her out time she just seemed angry rather than having a good time running around. I don't know if discipling bunnies works, but she's on a no-treat punishment now.
I've come to the conclusion that I can't handle owning them. It's either one or the other, or they both need to go to someone who has more experience. It's been tearing me up trying to decide what's most fair to both of them, and I'm not sure what the best routes are. I don't want to give up on them but I don't think I can give them the best care. The chinchillas are getting jealous with all the extra attention they're getting, too. : \
Suggestions? Sorry, I'm really at a loss as to what to do.I'm currently reading: crushed

Well folks, tonight (this afternoon, really) is my last exam of my undergraduate career. THANK MOTHERFUCKING GOODNESS!
I am very much looking forward to leaving campus, going to the gym for a nice, long cardio session, and then heading home for leftover chinese food and quality time with Kazuo Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day.
I stopped by the Book Trader (not my favorite used bookstore in the city but it'll do) yesterday to pick up a copy of Les Miserables because I suddenly feel the need for a challenge.
This post was full of nerdery. Ah, my life. |

Also, some anonymous commenter (IP address said Atlanta, Georgia) left me this link this morning, and here's an e-mail that I sent to my family:
Good morning! Nothing stirs the pot first thing in the morning like a little politics. And the Politics of Life are especially fun. http://www.catholic.org/politics/story.php?id=27820&page=1 This is a reaffirmation of the endorsement of Barack Obama by Doug Kmiec. Here's a quote: "To some of my fellow Catholics, Senator Obama's answers on abortion make him categorically unacceptable. I understand that view, respect it, but find it prudentially the second-best answer in 2008."
Who is Doug Kmiec? Good question. He's this guy: Chair & Professor of Constitutional Law, Pepperdine University; fmr Constitutional Legal Counsel to Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush and fmr. Dean & St. Thomas More Professor of Law, The Catholic University of America; fmr Director, The White Center on Law & Government, University of Notre Dame, 1980-99. So that's a little more impressive than me just saying that being Pro-Life is more than being Anti-Abortion and Obama is The Man For Right Now. Catholics can and SHOULD vote for Obama. Say it over and over to everyone (especially the Catholics) you know. Love you! doug.

S. Epatha Merkerson on being nominated for the Tony:
I got the call this morning. My publicist called around 6 AM, I’m in LA, so it was really early to have the phone ring. I was surprised and really happy and excited by it. Being able to have done the play in LA, and then getting the chance to bring the show to Broadway and having it be successful was a thrill and so the Tony nomination is just the sweetest thing. And, then all the calls coming in, 12 or 25 calls on my voices mail and the text messages from dear friends just makes it even sweeter. I’m on my way to the airport-I’m coming back to New York today, so I haven’t had the chance to call anybody, but when it’s my turn I’ll call my Mom. Gosh, all those phone calls, it must have been just like the performance we saw.I'm currently reading: chipper

So the director I did Baba Yaga for in 2004 recently rec'd me to a company called Concrete Temple Theatre for this upcoming show at the Flea:

There's a breast ballet and a margaret thatcher puppet.
I am super-excited, even if i'll be wearing a black hood over my face. :)
short rehearsal schedule, six performances. hooray!
